Back to the top: Touch your own stuff.  A large star with the 5 points decorated with stripes.  In between two of the points of the star is a sky with rain falling from it.  This image is dated 9/30/11.  In between two different star points is a small banner with the following: 30N3.  And next to this: You don’t know how lovely you are.  Three images of shooting stars with the following text in between them: Papi!  You are my shooting star.  Underneath this: Smoke weed and be happy… don’t worry.  To the left of this and overlapping the outline of a hand: To my father whom I’ve never seen a photo of & to my son who is miles away and that I never got to know, I love you, I hope you can understand.

Towards center-bottom: Fernando Francisco Blanco How problematic this pencil is gonna be the death of me, I wonder how my drawings are gonna come out in the piece of (unreadable).  At very bottom center, an image of a palm tree with 3 coconuts and a tiny stick man with a word bubble that reads hello.  Returning to the top and moving to the right of the center, under the letters D.U.I is an image of the country of Belgium.  Center right is an image of the country of Cuba and a star with the words: Cuba Libre.  As the ocean surrounds Cuba, a circular black space surrounds the image of Cuba, as no one else engraved here.  And similarly to the drawing of a sun’s rays, straight lines protrude from the image of Cuba and its freedom symbol.  

There are 44 lines of various lengths circling the image.  Lines extend long enough to reach all edges and corners of the plate.  A plethora of small doodles and sentences are amidst these lines drawn like sun’s rays: Freedom; What does time mean?  Chance and Opportunity; Te amo; This is great!  Ovo je strava! P.S. It is better to lose one minute in your life than to lose your life in one minute; We loved the total “Art is Living” experience.  And the following images: a small cube, a hair bow, a very tiny sun, an elf with tall troll doll hair, a hairless stick figure, an evil face with a big hat in the shape of an ice cream cone; the cone is the face and the ice cream is the hat, perhaps a meatball with hair and a face and two legs, a balloon with a happy face, a child-like image of a house, a rectangle outlining a scale holding two empty trays at equal height with the text: I’m the Law, a fat Buddha, a large line drawing of a woman’s face, a camel, and an American flag. The top right corner: God is love.  An upside down image of some kind of a bottle is at the very top of the plate in the top right hand corner.

 “Stereotypes” shows very aggressive statements about the view of people are different. Specifically homosexuals, black and while people. Although not all statements are bad, the board is still filled with words nobody would utter in casual conversation (Like how is bisexuals don’t “screw” everything on Earth). This board also isn’t safe from penises, as someone drew a “graph” of penis sizes of people, with Asians and ‘FIU male’ being the smallest and Blacks being the largest. And with most things drawn on the board appear to be jokes, this is a very predictable outcome when people are anonymously called to discuss stereotypes. - Christian Spencer

Looking at this wall makes me laugh a bit. As I’m reading over it I cant help but laugh at all the people who just missed the point. The stereotype wall was supposed to be a collection stereotypes. People either heard them, have been taught them, witnessed it happen to others or experienced being stereotyped themselves, this in no way implies that what you write is how you truly feel. It is interesting how when someone wrote a stereotype, it was usually preceded by a disgruntled response. The main item to spark negative responses was the several swastikas sprawled on the board. Almost all of them have been violently scratched out. One has been crossed out and someone noted that the person who wrote it was racist. It’s a stereotype board; it doesn't mean you feel that way. 

The rash reaction towards swastikas show the fast false association people generally make with well publicized symbols. Long before Hitler cemented his regimtee to the images of swastikas, it was a Buddhist symbol for good luck, drawn either facing left or right. The bigger one that was crossed out actually contains the dots placed within the symbol, typical in the Buddhist form and this was the one that was deemed racist by someone else on the board. One person even complained it was drawn the wrong way. It maybe a stretch but I think it’s a tell-tale sign of our society as it changes more into one that doesn’t question the knowledge presented to them as much as it should. Our information comes to us instantly; blogs, Twitter, Wordpress, email, websites, here say, I read it on my iPhone so it has to be true.
